Description

I wanted to update this little board to coreboot-25.06-9fe1546ffe but it seems it is broken.
I cleared cmos, switched RAM just in case.
Previous (working) rom was 24.05. I have trouble reflashing with my test clip so I'll desolder later to recover.

x86 exception 2 seems to be related to a NMI. The code in the stacktrace seems to be not related to the NMI iteself.

  2. It was my initial thought so I tried several combination of DDR2 sticks (1x 1GB, 2x 1GB, 1x 2GB, 2x 2GB), nothing.
    I just finished desoldering the W25Q128 and put back previous rom (24.05-5a0207e56a), soldered it back and it boots fine again.
    I tried with the DDR2 combinations described above and all are working.

  1. It was my initial thought so I tried several combination of DDR2 sticks (1x 1GB, 2x 1GB, 1x 2GB, 2x 2GB), nothing.
    I just finished desoldering the W25Q128 and put back previous rom (24.05-5a0207e56a), soldered it back and it boots fine again.
    I tried with the DDR2 combinations described above and all are working.

While the board now boots fine, I noticed that after a while (30min on), when I power off / on, I have the same error :

CPU Index 0 - APIC 0 Unexpected Exception:2 @ 08:7f2a67d1 - Halting

Also with a simple reboot, I also received a ram init failure. But not always. Only after a couple of minutes uptime.

but in both cases, clearing cmos and wait a 1 or 2min and it boots fine again. (with 25.06, it was completely bricked)

Not sure where to go from here. It would be nice if other with this board could either confirm if they notice similar behaviour or not.
But I think it is might be an hardware issue indeed, the board is very old already.

Feel free to close or leave it open.
I'll keep using it a little while with linux to see if I notice other strange things.

It is possible that raminit isn't perfectly working and you end with a slightly unstable DIMM.
When the issue is 100% reproducible you can start a git bisect and try to figure out which code change made it worse.
